Linda Cooper Quilts

I would love to visit your group and share my quilts and my techniques with you.
Lectures
Picture
My Quilting Life: in Color and 3D
With a trunk show spanning twenty years of quilting, I share ways to personalize your quilts and ideas for making your quilts 3-dimensional.  I show some of my kinetic quilts and talk about one of my passions, painted fabric.

The Joys of Ombre Fabrics
I open the Pandora's box of fabric secrets and show how to let your fabric do the work. Ombres are underappreciated, but they can simplify both quilt design and quilt construction. You'll be surprised how versatile they are.

Raw-Edge Broderie-Perse Cooper Style
I explain my signature technique of combining handpainted backgrounds with raw-edge motifs lifted from the most unexpected sources. This technique will lend a painterly quality to your work. You'll never look at fabric the same way again.

Workshops

Any of these workshops can be adapted for half-day or full-day sessions.

Free and Eas

y Fabric Painting
Unleash your art-play side and learn to paint your own fabrics.  The fabrics we make are beautiful and can be used as backgrounds or cut for appliqués or piecing.  To create your own personal batik patterns, we'll play with glue resists on the blank cloth and then add color. We'll also explore various possibilities for using your gorgeous fabrics.

Kinetic Quilts
Learn the secrets of making Linda's unique two-sided, mobile-like art quilts. Using a Timtex-like batting, it's possible to cut shapes out of it, create small mini-quilts and then reinsert them with fishing lure swivels so they rotate when the quilt is suspended. In this workshop, we will make a small quilt with one rotating element.

Raw-Edge Broderie-Perse Cooper Style
Learn to use my signature technique while creating your own style. Combine handpainted background fabrics with raw-edge appliqué to achieve a painterly effect with the time-honored Broderie-Perse technique. Fast and fun!

Batik Broderie-Perse
What would happen if you could use only one fabric as the feature in a Broderie-Perse quilt? Plenty, if you choose this colorful batik with lots of black accents! In this workshop, learn to make the most of a single feature fabric and use water-soluble glue to manage the bits and pieces. Use a handpainted background or use something entirely different. Fun and easy!
